Discover Dartmouth at anytime of the year and you are in for a treat!
If you have not been to this beautiful town on the South coast of Devon you really are missing out, as they say. Dartmouth, is of course, the home of much sought after Seated Titles – where you will own your plot of land!
To get a feel for the town I can highly recommend watching “The Coroner” – a BBC TV day time production which is filmed on location in the town and surrounding villages, etc. (Dartmouth is called Lighthaven in the show). The Coroner’s office is featured regularly – it is The Old Customs House in Bayards Cove right on the river front. (This location will be recognised by viewers of the 1970s hit show “The Onedin Line”). Don’t let all the villains portrayed in the show put you off – it is a bit like Midsummer Murders on occasion! Wander around the cobbled streets and you will find lots of delightful independent shops – many with a nautical theme as you would expect. There are some great eateries too! Rockfish (takeaway and eat-in premises) has the best fish and chips for miles! This is a branch of celebrity chef Mitch Tonks sea food restaurants empire which also includes The Seahorse, for the seafood lovers of the World – it has rave reviews and won numerous awards too.
Britannia Royal Naval College is another focal point for the town – set in the hill overlooking the river, it is a magnificent building.
There is a lot more to Dartmouth than this blogger can put to print so do put a trip on your bucket list… and Discover Dartmouth one day!
