In case you’d forgotten… It’s Hallowe’en!  I have just looked on Twitter and there have been 890,000 tweets trending with the hashtag #HappyHalloween.  Somehow I thought there would be more but I guess by the time you include all the variations on the theme #spooky, etc I expect there are millions of like minded souls getting involved.  Over the years the event has really grown in popularity here in the UK.  If you put a pumpkin outside your door you will be fair game for the local children this evening who will be out with their parents “Trick or Treating” – you’ve been warned!

Who was Count Dracula?

I stumbled across the Romanian Toursim website which has a great little article on the man himself.  (Romania was previously known as Transylvania.)  He is a fictional character based on one of the best-known figures of Romanian history, Vlad Dracula, nicknamed Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), who was the ruler of Walachia at various times from 1456-1462.  Bookworms will know he was made famous by author Bram Stoker who, inspired by his stay in the summer of 1890 put Whitby on the map.

Twice a year in April and around Halloween “Goths” descend on the Yorkshire seaside town to celebrate all that is “Count Dracula” the vampire.

If you are out and about tonight I guess you will see plenty of folk like this…

As the year moves from month to month we see increased interest in some Titles so it will come as little surprise that Count and Countess has been a popular “page view” recently.  In fact interest in Duke and Duchess has spiked too, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ visit to Australia.

If you are out tonight “Trick or Treating” have fun!!
