Last Saturday, 21st April saw Queen Elizabeth celebrate her (actual) birthday with a right Royal star-studded bash at the Royal Albert Hall. The event featured Sting, Kylie Minogue and Tom Jones to name just 3 performers on stage – a truly great night of song and dance to celebrate Her Majesty’s 92nd birthday in style!
Dartmouth is an historic port on the south coast of Devon which welcomes thousands of visitors each year – it is beautiful!
Perhaps most famous for the Britannia Royal Naval College – set on the hill (pictured above) – the town is home to our Seated Titles, as that is where the land (“Seat”) is located. There are lovely shops to browse through all day – very few “high street” chains as it is not big enough! “Foodies” travel from miles around to eat in the many restaurants. Mitch Tonks has a great seafood restaurant on the front – The Seahorse, and a couple of amazing traditional fish and chip shops too. There is something in town for everyone – when I visit I love just watching the yachts and passenger ferries / trips go about their business on the river.
Did you see the State Opening of Parliament on the TV yesterday? The Queen at her finest and in her new carriage – wow what a superb wagon! It took 7 years to build and is a work of art. This is a lovely event which takes place each year and is full of tradition – if you are interested you can probably get clips on Youtube. You can also read more about the event here.
